studying. The exact exam will have fewer and possibly
some different questions.
Review Topics
- Use Taylor's theorem to show there exists c between
x+h and x-h such that
(f(x+h)-f(x-h))/(2h) = f '(x) + f '''(c)h2/6.
- Use Taylor's theorem to show there exists c between
x+h and x-h such that
(f(x+h)-2f(x)+f(x-h))/h2 = f ''(x) + f ''''(c)h2/12.
- Find the region of absolute stability for the explicit Euler
method applied to the problem u' = αu.
Do the same for the trapezoid method and the implicit method.
- [Extra Credit] Numerically solve a
partial differential equation as in computer lab 10.
